When does testing need to be completed?
It is a North Carolina state requirement for homeschoolers to complete standardized testing annually. Many families choose to test at the end of their academic school year, scheduling in May or June. Testing can be completed during any month as long as it is done annually. Some families choose to test at the start of the year to set a baseline. Testing when opening up your homeschool is another great option to help guide curriculum planning.
How do I prepare for the testing session?
There is no need for preparation for this test as it is designed to measure the examinee's academic achievement and what they have mastered without review.
What should my child bring to the testing session?
Examinees can bring a drink and a snack if they would like. Some students choose to bring items that help make them feel more comfortable such as a stuffed animal or a fidget toy. The testing environment is very low-pressure, welcoming, and examinees quickly feel at home!
May I stay while my child is testing?
Testing is completed out of a home classroom. There is a waiting area for any parent who prefers to stay during the testing session. Otherwise, a text is typically sent 15 minutes prior to completion so that you can return for the after-session meeting.
What methods of payments are accepted?
Cash, check, or Venmo are all acceptable forms of payment. ESA+ recipients are invoiced prior to testing with payment due upon receipt.
